Why you’ll never go wrong with hardwood

At Bob's Wholesale Carpet we combine modern needs and inspiration with personalized and tailored customer service.

We have been in business, as a family-owned and operated company, for over 40 years and offer all the major brands at the lowest prices in Central Ohio. Installations are always completed by in-house subcontractors.

Bob Birchfield, the founder, is now retired. However, the business continues to strive under the leadership of Bob's daughter Sandra, current president, and CEO. Jamie, Sandra's daughter, formally joined the family business in 2010 and is the operations manager. Some other staff members, although not related by blood, are still family none-the-less. Ray, a former customer, has been part of our team as our estimator for quite some time. And Daven, Jamie's husband, is our installation and training specialist.

All of our professionals are seasoned experts who can guide you to the best flooring type for you.

Two kinds

Almost everyone is familiar with solid, one big slice throughout each plank, but engineered is taking a big share of the wood flooring industry.

Only the construction is different, making it more stable and better able to handle water. At the top is a slab of genuine timber. This is called the veneer layer and it’s what gives the floor its beautiful and elegant appearance. Underneath are three or more layers of genuine wood combined with resins, and those layers are placed crosswise.

It has more versatility since it can be used in many places where solid cannot, such as basements.

Ask your flooring retailer to show you samples of this hardwood.

All hardwood adds value to your home

You’ll recoup 70-80% of your purchase price for either, as reflected in your property values. If you are planning to sell, real estate sales associates tell us that buyers will often pay up to 2.5% more for a home with wood floors; since engineered is considered real wood, they are legally able to advertise them as such in the marketing tools.

Both versions can be refinished.
